The Energy Department is
responsible for Energy Management,
Utility Management, and HVAC building
controls. The HVAC Department is
responsible for the operation
of all heating and air conditioning equipment.
Energy Management promotes the wise use of our natural
resources. This
department provides information to schools to assist in
conservation and
conducts periodic mechanical inspections to insure that
systems are updated
as needed and running efficiently.
In 1996, Cumberland County Schools Operations Department, developed a comprehensive Energy Management Plan
which included four integrated
components: Technical Efforts, Preventive
Maintenance, Energy Audits, and
Energy Education/Conservation. Today, we
have revised that plan and have
designed what we call “Energy
Conservation: A Practical Approach.”
We now
focus on Preventing Waste and Energy Education. |

Go Green Initiative |
|
In the 2009-2010 School Year, Cumberland
County Schools adopted the Go Green Initiative (GGI), a grassroots
program that teaches students personal responsibility
for the earth and helps schools evaluate every aspect of their
environmental impact.
A partnership that involves students, teachers, administrators,
parents, custodians, central service personnel and community
partners, the GGI provides schools with
tools to create their own unique programs that encourage
environmentally-
responsible behavior inside and outside of the classroom. |
